Today is Vox's first anniversary since the official launch. What's the best experience you've had on Vox in the past year?
I am going to go with two:
::: 10 Thoughts :::
At one point, soon after this was posted. Someone, maybe more the one person, sent me this post. It was funny enough that I marked it as a favorite and still find them funny.
::: [Vox is Good] :::
REDmjck made this post about why she uses vox and such and the kind words she shared about other people and her highlights was a good example of a great experience I've had on Vox.
I am sure I could post more, I could talk about posts I have made. Times when I sent out mass messaged to my friends or asked for help or just shared with some very close friends. In the end, the act of communicating, the responses I have received, and the information I have sent out has been the basis of all the good from my part.
Happy Voxiversary!
Radiohead release their seventh studio album today and it's only available online and you set your own price. Will you buy the album? Do you buy the idea?
Maybe, I am not sure. I have never knowingly listened to Radiohead, but I like supporting interesting business models.
Do I buy the idea? I am not sure what there is to buy. It is great marketing. The success of failure will really depend on how much value the band provides to the customers. Some will want the band to keep making music and will either send them money for the CD or will go to a concert (or purchase something else). Others, like me, might pay nothing for the CD and will potentially become a fan. As the fanbase grows the amount of people who go to concerts and such increases & that is where label artists really make their money.
Reminds me of this post by TechCrunch.
What websites do you visit every day?
Submitted by Chez Michelle.
Not too many since I discovered RSS:
- Email - Gmail
- RSS Reader - Google Reader
- Calendar - Google Calendar
- Blog - Update Nation
After that I could list sites I tend to read using my RSS reader or just happen to go to, but the big message for you is that RSS is great and can save you lots of time and energy. Here is the best video explanation I have found:
What's your best tax tip?
Unless you want higher taxes, call your congressmen and tell them you want:
- the "Bush" tax cuts made permanent
- the AMT eliminated
- Enact the FairTax
Have you noticed a climate change in the area where you live over the past few years?
This is a stupid question simply because as an individual, uneducated, human lack the perspective or data to really make that call. Even the most Sr people on Vox lack the personal experience to really tell. In fact odds are they could tell you of the fear of a new ice age back in the 70's or the massive amounts of hurricanes we have every 32 or so years, including in the early 30's, middle to late 60's and now.
Even when it comes to snow, and this is the one that more people "notice" they base what they "notice" on logic like:
Winter does not officially start until December 21st, why is that? In part because the winter weather historically does not begin until after that part, depening on how far North one is.It use to snow a lot in December, not we might get one snow in December and all our snow happens after the New Year.
Here is what I have noticed as I study more and more History: people forget and their memory changes as time passes.
When you are a child you remember specific types of things, and offten that "memory" really is from stories people told you, videos, and pictures. As you grow older you remember less, simply because you have already stored more, and you remember differant types of stuff (stresses, pain, challenges) as opposed to all the happy memories.
In honor of Vox's launch tomorrow, what's your favorite feature or aspect of Vox?
I have said this before, around the time I began with vox, but it is worth saying again.
I like the privacy features & ease of use.
I could write my own blog software, and practically have in the past, but this allows me to use a simple system without worrying with maintaining code and such. I like that many of my family members have used it. Then I like that I can control who sees what for I mostly blog for people I know.
I hope that vox adds more custom groups.
Do you listen to podcasts? Are there any you'd recommend?
Inspired by Alex.
Yes, I listen to lots of them. Here are some of the best:
Artist Insider (now with a Vox Account)
This Week In Tech (TWIT - Leo also has a Vox Account)
Inside the Net
There are a lot more I follow, but those are the best three in my opinion.
